Love is in the air!

Ahhhh....it feels good to be back with my boys!! Owen's not quite sure he's glad I'm back.

Now he's happy! And no, you're not seeing things. His head is about the size of mine. Folks, this is what happens when a big headed person marries a little-headed person. It's gotta go one way or the other!!

I think it's time for milk-drinkers anonymous I think. They are both addicts.

Today is a special day for Wes and I as we are celebrating our seventh year anniversary! In family science classes in college, they always said that the 7th year was a make-it-or-break-it year for marriages so I'm so happy to say we made it! And we're better than we were before. Every year has been better than the last! Here's to many more years!!

Love you Wessy!!

A Minor Setback

Hey guys! Hello from Florida. Wow, it is so nice down here! The weather has just been beautiful. Not too hot where I want to go and throw myself in the ocean any chance I get. Nope, just nice and warm.

Things are going pretty well down here. Chuck did have a minor setback this week. He had chemo on Monday like planned but by Monday night, he was having chest pains and weird arythmias (can you tell I have been listening??) so Sara took him to the ER that night. The docs decided to do an EKG and keep him overnight. And then they decided to keep him a second night! Why? We're still not real sure! I think it was so that I could come and make fun of Chuck in his gown. Hehe.

Now that the results are back and Chuck is home from the hospital, it looks like the chemo drug that Chuck was on was causing the problems with his heart. In order to avoid anymore damage, they are going to put him on a different chemo drug starting next time. So, it is a minor setback, but we are thankful to God that it was nothing more than that!

Chuck and Sara have been wonderful hosts. I have been able to really relax and enjoy myself which I wasn't sure if I would be able to do. It's so nice to have a long stretch of time to be with family that you don't get to see very often. It reminds me how special they both are to me!

From what I have heard, things are okay on the home front! Wes is holding the fort down like a champ. He has had to endure some schenanigans from what I hear! Preston decided it would be fun to stuff a piece of rubber from a Koosh ball up his nose!! Wes couldn't figure out at first why he was crying and saying "My nose...my nose!!" Ahhh....so dramatic. But Wes was able to save the day.

Since I'm gone, Wes has let Preston play the Wii at night which is a "daddy" thing. I don't think I could ever get anything done in the house if I had to play the Wii with Preston all of the time. Well, last night Preston was playing Wii bowling and he got 7 out of 10 strikes and ended up with a 201 score. So, we've decided to enroll him in bowling lessons and bowling camp this summer and maybe a bowling boarding school or something. We will profit from this somehow!!! :) Okay, just kidding. I needed to say that just in case someone took me seriously!

Well, I'm looking forward to seeing you all again soon!

MOMMY! Please come back!!!

Hi, this is Wes. Today was my first full day watching the kids while Stacy is down in Florida with her Sister and Brother-in-law for the week. I am not used to running the house 100%, so I have had some rough times today.

This morning, I got the kids ready for church and made pancakes. Owen decided he'd sleep in until 9:15am, so I was really happy about that. Preston decided that since my bed was so big and that Mommy was going to be gone for the week, that he'd come into our bedroom at 3am and sleep on her side of the bed. At 6:45am he was ready to get up and get my cooking!

After breakfast we went to church and had a good service. We left straight after for Anderson to have lunch with my Mom and family for Mother's Day. The kids had a good time with their cousins and then we heading back for home. Owen fell asleep in the car then slept another hour or so when we got home. Preston slept for a couple hours too.

Anyway, I just got them to bed for the night, and am just happy to be able to unwind before starting the work week tomorrow morning. I'll be dropping them off at some friends of ours this week while I'm at work.

Here's a picture from the festivities tonight!
What you are looking at in this picture is a plate with 2 pizza burgers on it. Yes, 2. One is completely buried in Parmesan cheese. I told Preston to pour it slowly and he was like "Yeah, yeah. Okay!" Then 3 seconds later he said..."I didn't pour it slowly!" while he was pointing at his plate. :-P
I love these kids!

Happy Mothers Day

To Mom,

Because I haven't gotten you anything for Mother's Day yet, I thought you would enjoy a tribute from me.

When I think about the kind of mother that I have strived to be, it is you.

When I think about the things I loved about growing up, you are always a part of them.

When I need to call someone to just cry about the stupid things I did that day, I call you.

And you always listen.

You don't judge me.

You don't try and tell me what a failure I am.

You always lift me up.

You always encourage me.

You make me a better mom.

And I love you for it!

You are a wonderful mom!

I couldn't have asked for better.

Love you Sandy!

Hmmmmm......

Why is it that when I need to get the most things done, I just can't do anything?? I need to pack, clean up the house, make a few meals for the freezers and just get ready for me to go to Florida and I just can't.

It's funny because I'm so excited to go to see Chuck and Sara this next week but then I also have a part of me that is sad that I am leaving my family for the week. I know they will do fine without me....I don't do that much!! Haha. But really, I have been listening to sad songs and just feeling sentimental. Can someone please tell me to get a life???

Well, next post I should be in Florida and I'm sure by then I will be relaxed and I will know for sure whether I forgot a weeks worth of underwear or not!

Have a great weekend and Happy Mother's Day!

Dinner Disaster

Yup, that's right. You read dinner disaster. Let me start at the beginning. First of all, remember how I loved the idea of those little spices? Well they ruined my dinner!! I made everything as the recipe stated and was so excited to try it.

All I could taste was the thyme. Where does thyme even come from?? Because it needs to be banned. I don't like it! Ok, I would have liked a little bit of it, but for some reason, each spice had it's own little container but thyme had two!! I made sure on the recipe that this was right and it was. I was nervous, but I threw it in anyway.

Well, I should have left it out. The flank steak was like eating spiced up thyme leather. Mmmm......right? Not so much. Can you tell I'm disappointed? At least I got a Amazon gift card for doing it. That kinda makes me feel a little better. I'm also glad that I didn't even offer this one to the kids! They were straight at peanut butter.

I am not going to shun all of the other McCormick Recipe creations though. I might try the one with the Roasted chicken and Rosemary potatoes....but if they cross me, you better watch out!!

Hope your dinners tasted better than mine!!

Taste Test Tuesday-- McCormick Recipe Inspirations

Today for Taste Test Tuesday, I will be experimenting with something I was sent in the mail. I am a tester for McCormick spices and they sent me something like what you see to the left.
I'm a little nervous that I won't like it, but who knows! What I like about this is that the spices are all right there and all I have to do is shake them onto the meat!! Can't get much easier than that.
I know this isn't really a Taste Test Tuesday since I have no idea what the recipe for this is, but I thought you would enjoy finding out with us how we liked it! I have to take a survey later too to tell them how I liked it.
So stay tuned for pictures!!
