That's my boy!

These are some new pictures of our Owen. He's becoming more smiley as the days go by. Yesterday he had the giggles when Wes was playing peek-a-boo with him. Today Preston said, "I like Owie." That's our nickname for him. As my heart was bursting with pride, he said, "I like my feet." So I guess he likes his brother about as much as he likes his feet! :)

Lindsay's Visit

We had a wonderful time with Aunt Lindsay coming to visit. She stayed with us for 10 days and it seemed like the time just flew by. I decided after she came that I loved having an extra set of hands so I'm going to get a nanny. Do you think Wes will go for that? No, I don't either! :) But she was such a great auntie to the kids. She would step in and help out whenever I needed it! With her getting married in August, I'm hoping that this is good birth control for her and that she will wait a few years before she has her little family.

Owen really loved Lindsay. He is such a charmer.....he lets out these pathetic cries whenever he wants something and he sounds like a little cat. But for some reason, the cries are irresistible. Both Lindsay and I couldn't help but pick him up when he started crying. By the time she left, it was a big joke about how Owen had us wrapped around his finger.

While she was here, we got a lot of things done in preparation for her big day! She had a fitting for her dress, I got fitted for my matron of honor dress (doesn't that sound like I'm 50??), we booked the rehearsal dinner, and she had some showers. It was a great time. We will for sure miss Lindsay around here! Preston still asks about her everyday!

Up Up and Away!

Yesterday Preston, Owen and I went to a MOPS group activity at the Noblesville Airport. It was really fun for the kids! They got to sit in planes, play with the controls, take a wagon ride to see all the other planes and draw their own planes. This came at a perfect time for Preston since he is obsessed with anything that flies. Lindsay my sister just left our house after a week visit and she left in an airplane and now Preston thinks she lives in the sky. Here's some pictures from our time at the airport:

10 Year Reunion

You know you have those occasions that make you feel really old? Well, we had one of those last weekend. We had Wes and Brian's 10 year high school reunion. It was actually really fun. I recognized a lot of people from his high school because they ended up going to AU where Wes and I went to college. The reunion was at Hoosier Park (the horse track in Anderson). They just built a new casino so part of the reunion was getting to use some gambling money on the slot machines. Now you know I love to save money, but I also think it's fun to play the slot machines once in a while. Whenever Wes and I have gone, we go in with a set amount of money, never more than $10 and have a good time losing it all. Well, at the reunion, Wes and I actually came out ahead! We left with about $25 bucks. We always know when to quit!

Here's us in our designer duds!!

It was so great to see Brian and Rachel. They seem to be doing great and have taken great to becoming parents! It's so nice to now have children in common with everything else!

Cheesy smiles anyone???

You know Wes loves the ladies!!!

Day at the Pool

Preston worked hard at the pool today as a truck driver delivering precious water. Too bad he needs to find a new career because he spilled it all on the ground!

Owen just chilled out and enjoyed getting some rays on his extremely pasty skin.

That's my boy! Whatta cutie!! He's saying "Awww...c'mon Mom, you're embarassing me."

Family Update

It's been a while since I've updated everyone on how the Cooks are doing. Everything is going great for us. I had a wonderful time in Florida and although I got a cold, it was worth it. This week has been all about getting back on my feet and getting healthy. I think the "breastfeeding effect" of being able to eat the whole pantry and not see it show up on my body is slowing down. Now I can push my belly in and I let out a te-he like the Pillsbury dough boy!! :) Guess I have to go back to eating like normal.

Wes had his yearly review at work and it went great! They have frozen all raises at work but we were still thankful that it was a positive review. He made a great bonfire for us last night and we just had a great time as a family in our backyard. While we were out there, a huge hot air balloon landed in the back yard! It was pretty cool!

Preston is doing well. He is full of energy as usual and is up to his naughty tricks. But we love him just the same! We got out Preston's bounce house last night and he had a great time! I had a good time last night shooting Preston with silly string that he got I think for his birthday. He didn't like it as much as I did though!! He started crying because he thought I got his shirt dirty. Ooops. Everyday he asks me if he can go to Monkey Cheese (chuckie Cheese). He can't say his C's yet so everything comes out as a T. Like, Mom I want a tacker.....Mom I tan't!....I want a tookie! It's very endearing!!

Owen is my love child. I know parents aren't supposed to admit this but as a baby, I feel like I love him more than I did when Preston was this age. He is just the most cuddly, loving baby!! The thrill of his life is being held by us and getting attention. He's so easy to please! Now, he's not perfect by any means but as far as baby disposition goes...he has his brother beat. He's just such a sweetheart. He also is still sleeping through the night which has me on cloud nine!! I wake up everyday saying YES another night sleep!! I'm ready to have another one!! JUST KIDDING!! Wes, I hope you didn't just have a heart attack!

What a blessing!

I have just been sitting here reminiscing about how much God has give our family. Do you ever stop and think about all the blessings He has given you and your family? I was thinking how I take for granted my healthy babies, air conditioning, food to fill up my pantry, not having to work 2 jobs to make ends meet, having cars that are reliable...I could go on forever!

It is this thought that really convicts me to stop wanting more more more! No matter what I have, I always feel like more would be better. I am just trying to keep in mind how much I have instead of how it compares to everyone else! I just hope that I can give God pleasure in the way that I live my life and not in the things that I have! Okay, confession time over. :)

Who said guys don't care what they look like?

Here is a shocking secret view into what life is like with Wes around. Don't tell him that I put this up here! The ugly truth is that Wes' mirror time is more than mine. He loves looking at himself and spends about 10-15 minutes each night "working on himself." What does he do during that time? Your guess is as good as mine. I'm imagining a lot of plucking and poking and exfoliating and cleansing. He is a woman trapped in a man's body! Here is what he accomplished today.

He decided it was time to switch from beard to no beard. And he has so much fun doing it!! So, put your opinion in the comment section to this question:
Beard or No Beard???

Who's in Charge Here??

As you can see, the kids took over while I was gone and ruled the roost! Okay, not really but I'm sure Preston thought he was in charge!

Daddy looks like he could use some rest!

Some good ole bonding time with Daddy!

Look they're both still in one piece!

Well, I'm back from my trip to Florida and I don't mean to brag, but it was woooonderful!! The weather was awesome and being at my sister's is like being at a resort! Chuck and Sara took us out on their new boat twice, once for a "sunset cruise" and once to go tubing! They really do have a slice of paradise down there. Feel free to go and visit them....tell them I sent you!! :) We also spent two fun-filled days at Universal Studios where we rode lots of rides and even got my dad on a few coasters accidentally!! (He gets sick on coasters!) We had a great time!
Back here on the homefront, Wes said things went really well! Owen decided he loved his daddy more than his mommy and started sleeping from 9:30pm to 7:30am each night!! So, no middle of the night Daddy duty for Wes. What a lucky duck! They also had way more fun than they usually have with me.....they went to the park, to the pool twice, to Caleb and Maya's twice, to the playground at the outdooor mall, and to the playground at the indoor mall!! And I was only gone 4 days!! How am I going to keep up with that people??
My heart just melted when I heard Wes say two things:
1). "I really didn't understand why you always want to go to bed at 10 or 10:30pm until I was here and I realized that you're just worn out by the end of the day." Amen brother.
2.) "I tried to clean up right before you got home but then the boy's woke up from their naps and messed the place up again." Another amen! I feel like I'm always saying this to Wes when he gets home from work.
So, the trip was a wonderful success and Wes did wonderful just like I knew he would! Time to plan my next trip, right?????
