We made it to two weeks!

Owen is now 2 weeks old! What a whirlwind it has been. I know that people say that you will be busier with 2 and I believed them, but you can't really imagine what it's like until you have 2. I was so spoiled having just one! I could write a blog whenever I wanted, now I have to sneak away and hope no one misses me!! Now I'm also up at all hours of the night! Last night I was doing a load of laundry at 3am....never thought I would be doing that!

This afternoon was the first time that I was truly on my own with the two kids. I just dropped off my mom and I was on my own! I got home about 5pm and was going to make dinner. I got the meal out of the freezer and was about to start making it when Owen spit up all over the carseat, then needed to eat and then needed his diaper changed! Then Preston wanted his show on, and started taking out all of his toys and making a mess. By the time that Wes got home, dinner was not even started! I just can't believe how much stuff there is to do and how when it's all done, you just have to do it all over again!

It's not that I don't like having the two kids, it's more like I wish I had 4 arms and a maid and a cook. Is that too much to ask!?? Sorry all my blogs lately have been about the kiddos, but I figure those of you who are going through these times can defnitely relate to what I'm talking about! That's all that's going on for now...........

Poor Baby Austin--KIDNAPPED!!!

Well, we all need to take a moment of silence for Baby Austin. He has been abducted. And I'm not talking by Preston.....Here's the scoop.

Preston and I went on a walk yesterday and decided to take the wagon. I let him also take baby Austin and a teddy that he had. So, Preston got strapped in on one side with his toys on the other side. We walked for about 20 minutes and then headed to the park.

I left the wagon like I normally do just by the side of the playground and helped Preston as he played. Well, I looked over and these three sisters who were from ages 5-10 probably were pulling the wagon around. No big deal. Then they started playing inside the wagon. Okay, still not a big deal. Well then their mom puts them and their dog!!!! in the wagon and starts pulling them on a wagon ride! She took them pretty far away from the playground and I started getting a little uneasy. Strange I thought, but I didn't think much of it. Then they headed to leave and left the wagon in the parking lot instead of where I had left it! When we were ready to leave, I looked in the wagon and Baby Austin and the teddy bear were gone!! The girls had taken them!! I couldn't believe it! I still can't. I know their just toys but that cabbage patch was from my childhood! So, it had a lot of meaning to me.

Anyway, I don't know if I will ever see Baby Austin again. I just hope his new family takes care of him. Now, if I see them later on...should I say something?? I just don't know how I could since they never even acknowledged me as they used my wagon. Should I just push them into the pool this summer? Decisions....decisions.

We're still here.....barely.

What a week it has been! I started off the week getting a really bad head cold and ended this week with a still kinda bad headcold plus a plugged up ear and a giant rash on my huge 'ol pregnant belly! Now, normally I can handle being sick alright, but there's something about being pregnant and sick that I just HATE! I turn into a huge whiner. Just ask Wes!

Also this week, the temperatures have been freezing!! The past few days have been below zero (I know you MI people are saying suck it up!!). Well, our wonderful heater has decided it's way too cold to be able to keep up with the temps so it's settled for mediocrity. Which means it's been between 57 and 63 in the house for the past 3 days. So, I have either holed up Preston and I upstairs where it's a little warmer or stayed at friends/families houses for a really long time. So, needless to say, it's been a little crazy! I hope that everyone is staying warm and happy!!

Here's a quick funny/gross Preston moment: This morning his diaper decided to fall off and go down one leg of his sleeper. Well, when it was time to do his daily "business" that ended up going down the other leg of this sleeper! Poor guy was traumatized as were we. Thanks to Wes for taking care of that one! Way to take one for the team!

If Only..................

Last night, I had a moment where I felt like all my hard work had paid off and Preston had won his battle over not wanting green veggies!! I felt like I could conquer the world, like I could write the next book on how to get your kids to do whatever you want (yeah right!) and become a world famous expert.
We were at Erin and Chris' house and we were eating dinner and we put some green beans on Preston's plate and he started eating them with no problem. Wes and I were stunned to say the least! So, then we all start talking and I look back at Preston and all but one of his beans were gone!! My heart was bursting with pride!! Wes and I said can you believe it?!! Then Wes starts laughing hysterically because in Prestons lemonade were about 10 floating green beans and a wad of mashed potatos. EWWWWW is all I can say!! But we all had a good laugh that Preston had hoodwinked us!

Maybe next week, I will write that expert book...............something tells me that's not gonna happen!

Ps. I was showing pictures of people in magazines to Preston and was pointing out someone's mustache and he said STACHE!! All I could think of was I hope some day Preston doesn't have a "porn stache!"

Yeah......no........that better not happen.

An Unexpected Surprise

Well, I went into Preston's room after his nap to a very small surprise. He had thrown out all his pillows and blankets and his little Garfield and was sitting there naked from the waist down. His diaper was on the opposite end of the crib with a pile of poop "nuggets" on the bed, just sitting there.............EWWWW!!! He had managed to get his pants and diaper off and then empty his diaper onto the bed. How sweet!

I will say that I found this very humorous and couldn't even be mad at him. I think the funniest part was that he was sitting there so calmly while a poop pile stared him down. I also thought it was funny how he made sure to be way on the opposite side of the pile. Nowhere near where he might have to encounter it. It's times like these that I wish we had a hidden camera in his bedroom just to see what actually happened.

For all of you who are thinking.....seeeeee......he's ready for potty-training, well I have thought this also, and Wes and I were all prepared to start the process when we had the "Incident." I was downstairs making dinner and Wes was up in the loft on a phone call. I could hear Preston yelping from upstairs but I figured he was just trying to get Wes to pay attention to him. Well, the yelping continued, so I went upstairs to find Preston, holding on for dear life. He was perched precariously in the toilet, with his bottom about to touch the water. He had thought that he was a big enough boy to get on the potty without the potty chair and had nearly fallen in. He was yelling to us to save him from falling in!! Luckily, I saved him, but the damage was done. Now I say, hey let's use the potty and he says, "Nooooooo, biper!! (diaper in Preston language) So, potty training has been put on hold for awhile. If anyone has any tips on how to help him overcome his fears......let me know!!

Thanks for enduring this potty-filled post! I was going to put up pictures, but figured I would save you from losing your cookies!!

Surgery Went Great!

Well, Preston came through his ear surgery A-ok! He was very disoriented and cried for about 15 minutes before he finally settled down after the surgery, but now he's back to his old self. The dr. said that he had so much fluid in one of his ears that had gotten sticky that she had to use an adult size suctioner to get it all out! She said he should be hearing better, have better balance and his speech should improve. So, I went ahead and sent in his application for Harvard.....

Thanks for all of the thoughts and prayers!

What was he thinking??

Okay, I don't pretend to understand little boys, but sometimes they just make you wonder.....what is going on in your head??? Today Preston and Mimi Laning and I were out at Panera Bread and I had to go the bathroom. So, I took Preston to the bathroom with me and we went into the stall and I closed the door. The first thing Preston did was run over to the bathroom wall and he started kissing it!!!!!!!! I was about to throw up in my mouth!! He's lucky anti-bacterial soap has alcohol in it or he would have ended up with some in his mouth. Thought you guys would enjoy that story. :) Let me know if you think it has some secret meaning...........

Sometimes you just gotta give it up.....

Boy am I glad that God did not call us to be perfect. He just called us to love Him and others. Today has been one of those days. Preston started bleeding from his ear so I took him to the doc and found out he has a double ear infection. Poor little P. Anyway, the house is a wreck....and when some of you call your house a wreck, times that by 100, and that's my house! So, I called Wes and told him the truth. I told him to expect a dirty house, a sick child and his pregnant wife sitting on the couch when he got home. Now I could have rushed around and exhausted myself just to appear that I have everything together. But I'd much rather Wes know that sometimes I don't have it all together and that I just need understanding. When you have a wonderful husband like him though, he comes home and supports instead of criticizes. Yeah for you man!!
